Carolina International School students take part in mock trial

Carolina International School sent eight tenth grade students to compete in the Wade Edwards Mock Trial competition as attorneys and witnesses, one to compete in the courtroom art competition, and another one to compete in the photography contest.  The case was a lawsuit against a police officer accused of police brutality.

The students had to prepare both sides of the case, and faced teams with older and more experienced opponents.

The Wade Edwards High School Mock Trial Competition is a state-wide educational program that provides an opportunity for students to learn about the U.S. legal system from legal professionals. Students take on the roles of attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs, courtroom artists and journalists, creating a lively and realistic courtroom drama. As part of this interactive learning experience, local attorneys volunteer to work alongside teacher coaches, advising student teams as they prepare for competition.
