Young Republicans sponsor conservative speaker tour
RALEIGH — The North Carolina Federation of Young Republicans, North Carolina’s statewide grassroots organization for Republicans between 18 and 40 years old, will sponsor conservative speaker Mason Weaver in a tour around the state Aug. 23 through 28.
Weaver, author of “It’s OK to Leave the Plantation: The New Underground Railroad,” will visit Charlotte, Asheville, and Jacksonville during his visit, with stops along the way to support local Republican candidates and promote his most recent book, “Polishing the Diamond in the Rough.”
“We are bringing Mason here to mobilize black voters and youth voters in North Carolina in a new way… He brings a fresh and well-articulated perspective, one that is very much opposed to liberal thinking,” said Kim Cotten, state chairman for the Young Republicans.
“This is a critical time to mobilize conservatives. With more than 1.8 million blacks or African Americans and more than 2.8 million young adults, these are key populations to reach out to in this election,” Cotten said.
