Obama’s economic blueprint for North Carolina
Obama Releases Economic Blueprint for North Carolina, Outlines Investments to Strengthen the Middle Class
Campaign will distribute 10,000 copies to undecided voters, hold “North Carolina Economic Forum” on Tax Day
Raleigh, NC – Senator Barack Obama today released his economic blueprint for North Carolina – a detailed, 47-page book outlining his plan to turn the economy around and invest in the middle class. In a major grassroots effort to reach out to undecided voters concerned about the economy, the Obama campaign is producing more than 10,000 copies of the book and inviting North Carolinians to participate in a North Carolina Economic Forum this Tuesday, April 15.
“North Carolina has been hit hard by the foreclosure crisis. Tens of thousands of textile and other manufacturing jobs have gone to Mexico or vanished altogether, and entire communities have been devastated,” Senator Obama said. “North Carolinians have a lot at stake in this election, and I believe they deserve to know exactly what I’ll do as president to turn this economy around and strengthen the middle class.”
The Obama campaign has produced over 10,000 copies of the book and will make them available next week at the campaign’s 21 offices across the state—from Asheville to Wilmington. Books will also be distributed at town hall meetings, community events, and by volunteers going door to door in a major grassroots effort to bring Senator Obama’s agenda for change to North Carolina families – particularly those who are undecided in this election. The book will also be available for download at nc.barackobama.com.
“Over the last year and a half, I’ve heard the stories of regular people who are struggling to keep their homes; families who are squeezed by higher gas prices and health care expenses; and those who feel like their dreams of a secure retirement are slowly slipping away,” Senator Obama said. “I’m running for president because I believe it’s time those voices – and the voices of every hardworking family in North Carolina – must be heard in Washington.”
On Tuesday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m., Senator Obama’s campaign will be holding a “North Carolina Economic Forum” – inviting North Carolinians to come together at house parties and meetings around the state to learn about his plan for the economy and discuss his ideas with their friends and neighbors. Attendees will get a copy of the book, and get a briefing from his top economic advisors.
The event is being held on Tax Day because Senator Obama believes we need a fairer tax code – and that in return for what they pay in taxes, North Carolinians deserve a government that will actually create jobs instead of shipping them overseas.
The campaign is inviting North Carolinians of all walks of life to come and learn about this plan – and bring along a friend or neighbor who is undecided.
