McHenry statement to supporters
McHenry Sweeps All Ten Counties
Hickory, May 7 -
Dear Friends,
Now that all the votes have been tallied, one thing is abundantly clear: Western North Carolina Republicans are united. We are unified and ready to wage a strong campaign against the Democrats this fall.
Because of your hard work, your votes, and your prayers, we defeated Lance Sigmon 67% to 33%, a 2 to 1 margin of victory!
We won all ten counties, and our support is strong in every corner of the Tenth District.
In Avery County, we won 73% - 27%, in Burke 71% - 29%, in Caldwell 70% - 30%, in Catawba 51% - 49%, in Cleveland 85% - 15%, in Gaston 88% - 12%, in Iredell 78% - 22%, in Lincoln 60% - 40%, in Mitchell 75% - 25%, and in Rutherford 86% - 14%.
This landslide win was a huge victory for decency and civility in politics. Unlike my opponent, I campaigned on the issues. I traveled throughout Western North Carolina talking about solutions to the challenges facing our region, and that’s why we won the race.
We must now focus our attention on November. The Democrats are preparing to mount a competitive bid for our seat. I called Daniel Johnson last night to congratulate him on his win and tell him that I look forward to a vigorous campaign on the issues moving forward.
But Nancy Pelosi’s chosen recruit, a trial lawyer from Raleigh, already has his pockets stuffed with cash from Washington liberals, and we know there will be more to come.
To defeat them, we must pull together and make a strong case for what we stand for.
We are the party of faith, life, and family values. We are the party of secure borders and an end to illegal immigration. We are the party of a strong national defense and victory over Muslim extremists.
And we are the party with the right ideas for rebuilding our economy and creating good-paying jobs for working families.
Together, we will defeat the Democrats and prevent them from getting another vote in Congress for Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco liberal agenda.
Together, we will celebrate again on November 4th!
God Bless,
Congressman Patrick McHenry
