McHenry helps Big Oil have another big quarter
The numbers are in and, thanks to U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry protecting their profits, it was another record-breaking quarter for Big Oil, while North Carolina’s middle class families are being squeezed by $3.87 gas at the pump.
Big Oil profits are good news for Representative McHenry who accepted $26,000 in Big Oil contributions.
Jennifer Crider, Communications Director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said “Middle class Americans paying $3.87 at the pump, Big 5 Oil companies make more than $44 billion last quarter and Representative McHenry took $26,000 in Big Oil contributions. Priceless.”
The DCCC says while North Carolina’s middle class families pay $3.87 at the pump, it was another big quarter for Big Oil:
• Conoco Philips 2nd Quarter Profits: $5.44 billion.
• Exxon/Mobile 2nd Quarter Profits: $11.68 billion.
• Royal Dutch Shell 2nd Quarter Profits: $11.56 billion.
• BP 2nd Quarter Profits: $9.47 billion.
• Chevron 2nd Quarter Profits: $5.98 billion.
McHenry voted against legislation that would cut Big Oil tax breaks ([HR 5351, #84), the committee said.
