Hagan unveils plan to promote stronger schools, successful students

GREENSBORO — State Sen. and U.S. Senate Candidate Kay Hagan (D-Guilford) continued her “Best Interests, Not the Special Interests” tour this week when she unveiled her plan to promote “Stronger Schools, Successful Students” today (Wednesday) in Charlotte.

Hagan’s plan addresses the significance of investing in North Carolina’s students from pre-school through college, and specifically, ways to enable North Carolina students to pursue a college education and a career of their choosing.

She held a roundtable discussion with members of the Historically Black College and University community, which has a vibrant presence in the state. North Carolina has a large number of HBCUs, including five private schools and five public schools.

The roundtable event was a chance for Hagan to meet with administrators and students of these institutions to discuss their importance in North Carolina and how she can help ensure that HBCUs continue to thrive once she is elected to the Senate.

The discussion was at Johnson C. Smith University.
