Chamber forum set for Tuesday

The Catawba County Chamber of Commerce and the Catawba County League of Women Voters invite everyone to attend a special primary candidate forum featuring candidates for the North Carolina State Senate and Catawba County Commissioners.  This event will be held on Tuesday, April 15th from 7:45 – 9:00 a.m. at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.  The cost to attend this event is $15 and includes breakfast.  The event will allow each candidate a few minutes for opening comments as well as some time to answer a question from the Chamber and finally the candidates will have an opportunity to answer questions from the audience.
The May 6th Primary is going to be a very important one for local political races.  The winner of the State Senate seat will be determined during the primary, while the top two vote getters on the Republican side will then face off against the democratic challenger for the two open County Commissioner seats.  This is a wonderful opportunity to come and hear each candidate’s platform and listen to them answer questions from local constituents and business leaders.
Those interested in attending are asked contact Pam Manfredi, with the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, at 828-328-6000 ext. 228 by April 11th or register online at http://www.catawbachamber.com under the calendar of events.

Funny thing - I contacted a few people to ask why the 10th District Congressional candidates will not be at this forum...apparently, Johnson, Ivester, and Sigmon were contacted and available.  McHenry was not - so the Chamber decided NOT to include ANY of the congressional candidates.

I also heard from one source that McHenry is hosting several members of the Chamber in DC…

Anyone else think that’s “funny”?  I would have thought better of the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce.

The only thing I see funny about this is that they are having it during the day.  They should have it during the evening so that the working folks could attend.

Go Senator Allran!

Mr. Stewart is right...why is this being held in the morning? Most working people won’t be able to attend - especially those working in more “blue collar” positions.  Is that why it is being held at this time - to prevent a certain group from attending??

I still would like the Chamber to respond as to why the congressional candidates aren’t included.
