Candidates Day, sponsored by IGroup, is this Saturday

HICKORY

The Unifour Unaffiliated IGroup will have its first event of the election season in North Carolina.

“Candidates Day” will be held this Saturday on Union Square in downtown Hickory, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m..  Invitation letters have been extended to presidential candidates, U.S. senatorial candidates, 10th Congressional District candidates, and gubernatorial candidates of all political parties.

Rain will not cancel the event. Several candidates have made commitments, including Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, running for governor; incumbent Congressman Patrick McHenry and congressional challenger Daniel Johnson. They will be speaking directly to the people in old fashioned stump speeches.
The Unifour Unaffiliated IGroup is non-partisan . According to the organization, its only interest is education for all voters by getting the information directly from those in elected positions and those who are vying for elected positions.

All voters are invited.  Residents who are not registered to vote are most strongly invited.  Representatives of the League of Women Voters of Catawba Valley will be on hand to provide assistance in filling out voter registration card and absentee ballot information.

Bring a lawn chair, pack a picnic lunch, umbrella and hear the stump speeches.
