The public is welcome to attend a backyard get-together with former President Bill Clinton today.
Clinton is expected to arrive at a Newton residence at 5:15 p.m. to campaign for wife, Hillary. The home is at 752 S. College Ave., a couple of blocks south of downtown.
Clinton will spend about 50 minutes at the casual gathering, said a Hillary Clinton Campaign spokesperson. He’ll give a speech and shake hands.
The homeowners declined to allow the campaign to reveal their names.
Earlier in the day, Clinton will make stops in Marion, Morganton and Lenoir. He’ll be at the Marion Train Station in Marion at 12:30 p.m., at 307 Avery Ave. in Morganton at 2 p.m. and a resi-dence at 902 College Ave. in Lenoir at 3:15 p.m.
Clinton visited Hickory in late March, speaking to a crowd of more than 1,200 people at St. Stephens High School.
