Ask the politicians
What question would you ask Congressman Patrick McHenry - and his challengers?
How about N.C. Sen. Austin Allran and his Republican opponent Kitty Barnes?

I would ask the Congressman about his Peru Free Trade Agreement vote and whether or not he will support upcoming free trade deals with Colombia and South Korea despite the loss of jobs in the district and the economic downturn.
I would ask challenger Lance Sigmon as to whether he will be willing to fight the status quo in DC by sponsoring legislation to withdraw the US from NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, the WTO, and make trade with China fair and dependent upon human rights.

Ms. Barnes, I have sent over five emails to you as my commissioner and I have yet to get one response. Senator Allran responded to every email, so why would I want a Senator who does not respond to his/her constituents?

Ms. Barnes, you said to Mr. Tom Millican at a county meeting that “We can’t do anything about illegal immigration” just before you brushed him off. If there is nothing you can do about illegal immigration on a local level like, not allowing contractors to do county work who hire illegals, why should we have you in the Senate to replace our current Senator who has a bill to battle illegal immigration that the Liberal Democrats will not call to the floor and who has been very public about businesses taking advantage of cheap labor?

Ms. Barnes, with your “tax hiking” record and “scare tactics” referendums why would we want to put you in a place that you could vote with the Democrats to hike even more taxes?

Ms. Barnes, If the Senator’s seat is so important, why do you continue to hold you commissions seat. I would think you would allow the county to fill your position and you would put your entire effort into running for the Senate seat.
