Naval Hero and Former Prosecutor Daniel Johnson Files to Run for Congress

Hickory native Daniel Johnson officially filed for the 10th District Congressional race last week. Johnson faces another Hickory resident, Steve Ivester, for the Democratic Party nomination. While U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry and Republican challenger Lance Sigmon have sparred over the setting of a debate, the Democrat race has been clean.

Former State Representative Mark Hollo Files

Taylorsville - (February 12, 2008)  Former State Representative Mark Hollo has filed for election to the North Carolina House of Representatives from District 88. The District includes all of Alexander County and most of Hickory.

Democrat’s fundraising competitve with McHenry

Hickory’s Daniel Johnson proved significant fundraising prowess in the early stages of his Congressional campaign. Johnson, a Democrat, raised more than $123,000 during 2007’s fourth quarter, an impressive figure in a predominatly Republican district. He had more than $118,000 available at the beginning of 2008.
Johnson faces Steve Ivester in the May primary.
Incumbent Patrick McHenry had nearly $200,000 cash on hand at the end of September, the latest information available.
