In today’s Your Voice in Politics

Taxpayers are fed up.
I read with great interest the statements on illegal immigration made by lieutenant governor, Greg Dority. It’s high time the citizens of North Carolina elected true leaders who are willing to tell the truth, grab the bull by the horns, and courageously take the necessary steps to protect North Carolinians from the enormous costs of illegal immigration on our schools and our children, hospitals, public safety, jobs and wages, and taxpayers’ pocketbooks. GOP Reagan Day set for March 29

HICKORY
The Catawba County Republican Party will be holding its annual Reagan Day Dinner on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Lake Hickory Country Club, 430 17th Avenue NW.
The theme will be a “Salute to the Troops”.  N.C. Sen. Fred Smith, candidate for Governor, will be the keynote speaker.  Joining Senator Smith will be Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, who is also a candidate for Governor. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and hear from other elected officials and candidates.
The annual Reagan Day Dinner is one of the party’s major fundraising events of the year. 
Reservations can be made by contacting Chip at 294-1409 or Kay Schmucker at 324-8780. The cost for the dinner is $35.00. Reservation deadline is Monday.

Barnes airs cable ads

Kitty Barnes, chairwoman of the Catawba County Board of Commissioners and N.C. Senate candidate, began airing cable television ads Friday. Barnes challenges longtime incumbent Austin Allran for the 42nd District seat, which includes Catawba County and sections of Iredell County.
The spots will run on Charter Communications through the May primary.

Catawba County GOP to hold monthly meeting April 3

The Catawba GOP will hold their monthly meeting at Ryan’s Steak House on US-70 in Hickory on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:00 pm.  Bob Crumley will be the guest speaker.  Crumley is running for Attorney General of North Carolina. More information can be found at http://www.bobcrumley.com.  Dinner starts at 6pm with business at 6:30 pm and the program at 7:00 pm.

One man candidate forum held at CVCC

Despite being the only candidate, Lance Sigmon participated in Tuesday’s candidate forum at Catawba Valley Community College.
Sigmon addressed the audience of about 50 people and answered questions.
